This was a homework assignment I did for a composition class. We had a composition module on duality and the assignment was to express the duality of opposites. Discussing it with my friends, I decided that the most opposite things I could think of were string quartets and highly offensive gangster rap, so I wrote the string quartet part, played it with MIDI and mixed it with Put It In Your Mouth in Acid Music. My class thought it was hilarious and my professor did not take offense though we did discuss it as a class for an hour after I played it. (The crickets at the end were for the awkward, jaw-dropped silence I thought I'd get after it was over.) The piece later almost got me kicked out of the conservatory, so I buried it until after I graduated, where now I've noticed the MP3 circulating among my friends' Itunes lists. I thought I'd post it here.
Any real string quartets who want to play this let me know...
